About Jade Leppä

I once heard that the most boring answer one could have to the question “When did you start drawing?” is “Since I could hold a pen”. But what if it’s true?

I can’t remember there being a time in my life that I did not draw. I spent elementary school years doodling in class, in middle school I joined the school’s art club and after that continued on to an art high school. In university I have been the head of a student art club and now after years of deliberation, I’ve decided to make art my job too.

I make most of my illustrations digitally, but I’m also an avid fan of watercolours, gouache and whatever I get into my hands, really. You name a medium, I’ve probably tried it. Most recently I’ve gotten into ceramics.

In my works, you can usually find cute animals, children, and themes inspired by nature, mythology and the days gone past. I love creating illustrations that are adorable, tell a story and make people feel good. I aspire to make children’s books and other memorable paper products, such as cards or gift wrapping papers. I also do commissions, be it big or small. Some examples include a mural, a pet portrait and illustrations for a student organisation.
